Hemp Performance

Performance Reviews

“Hemp bedding is easier to clean than hay or wood chips and it smells better all around.” *Shannon M

Absorbency

Hemp contains 15-37% more cellulose than trees making it more absorbent than wood fibers. Hay is not absorbent, and can become soggy and moldy when wet. It’s also dusty, which can cause respiratory issues.

Cost

Hemp bedding lasts longer than other options, and stays cleaner longer, making it cost efficient.

Horse and Human Health

Hemp bedding is low dust, organic, and naturally pest, mold and fungi resistant, which reduces allergies, skin irritations, hoof infections and lung problems.

Soil Health

Composting hemp horse bedding to your fields and garden after use, reduces the need for synthetic pesticides, irrigation needs, and fertilization. Unlike wood shavings it does not need to compost for 3-6 months before application.

Odor Abatement

The hollow pockets inside the hemp hurds trap ammonia odors caused by urine. Ammonia is a caustic gas that can irritate the eyes, respiratory tract, and skin of horses. It can also cause damage to the respiratory system, leading to inflammatory airway disease and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). High levels of ammonia can also negatively affect a horse’s metabolic and reproductive hormones.

Discover the Benefits

Hemp bedding makes happier, healthier horses. Less work and worry for you, makes happier, healthier people!

Earth Friendly

Farmers love hemp! It requires little irrigation, can be grown organically, and makes an excellent interim crop that prepares the soil for the next crop. Hemp grows four times faster than trees, and can be renewed twice a year in some climates.
